Welcome to Issue 22 of WPBeginner Spotlight! March brought many notable developments across the WordPress ecosystem — major anniversaries, new AI tools, backups and staging improvements, developer-focused services, and product updates that make site management easier.
WPForms celebrates 10 years and adds Universal PayPal
WPForms turned 10. Trusted on millions of sites, WPForms has evolved from a contact form into an AI-enabled form platform with many integrations. To mark the milestone they offered a limited 60% discount and released a highly requested Universal PayPal integration available to all users, including WPForms Lite. That lets sites accept payments, donations, and orders through PayPal without extra eCommerce addons.
Duplicator launches Activity Log plugin
Duplicator released Activity Log, a plugin that records a comprehensive audit trail of site activity (over 60 event types). It tags events by severity (Critical, High, Medium, Low), offers searchable, filterable timelines, and notifies admins about high-severity events. It also captures actions other tools miss (featured image changes, custom fields, permalink changes), supports CSV/JSON exports, and includes WP-CLI for automation across multiple sites.
WP Packages: community-funded Composer repository
WP Packages launched as an open, community-funded Composer repository (by Ben Word and Roots) offering free plugins and themes from WordPress.org through a transparent build process. It’s designed for developers managing WordPress dependencies and includes a migration script to transition from WPackagist.
WPVibe by SeedProd: manage WordPress from AI tools
WPVibe enables conversational control of self-hosted WordPress via AI tools like Claude, ChatGPT, or Cursor. Using a small MCP server as a secure bridge, WPVibe lets you create posts, update pages, check themes/plugins/site health, and run plugin-specific tasks through an Abilities API. Features include natural-language content control, site intelligence, multi-step automation via Code Mode, AES-256 credential encryption, draft-default content, and 30-day trash retention. Setup is quick with a server URL and magic link.
WPCode reaches 3M installs; Visual CSS Picker and event tracking
WPCode surpassed 3 million active installs. New features include a Visual CSS Picker for point-and-click styling of any element without inspecting code, and custom event tracking for the Conversion Pixels addon to track actions like video views, clicks, and scroll depth — all without writing code.
MonsterInsights redesigns reporting and adds flexible exports
MonsterInsights updated its reporting dashboard with multi-metric overlays, advanced filtering via a slide-out panel, improved campaign tables, and exportable reports (CSV/Excel). An Export Queue centralizes and tracks exports for agencies and marketers, enabling better data analysis and automation.
my.WordPress.net: persistent WordPress in your browser
WordPress introduced my.WordPress.net, a persistent, private WordPress environment that runs entirely in the browser. Built on WordPress Playground technology, it removes hosting and domain barriers for private experimentation. Sites are private by default, store data locally in the browser (initial ~100 MB), include one-click app catalog items (Private CRM, Personal RSS reader), and offer AI integration to modify the environment. Users should back up regularly since data ties to the device.
Duplicator one-click staging and Remote Cloud Restores
Duplicator added a true one-click staging system to create isolated copies for testing. Staging protections include search engine blocking, suppressed outgoing emails, visual admin cues, and database isolation. They also launched Remote Cloud Restores to restore sites from Duplicator Cloud even if the server or dashboard is inaccessible. Agencies can monitor backups and perform centralized restorations across many sites from Duplicator Cloud.
Thrive Suite: improved quiz data and lead form workflows
Thrive Suite’s update simplified quiz data handling and lead form workflows. Thrive Quiz Builder now exports quiz results as CSV in one click and supports detailed category breakdowns via shortcodes. Thrive Leads adds one-click duplication of Lead Groups or forms (including settings and triggers). Thrive Architect sidebar improvements and smarter workspace behavior speed up editing. CSV exports include GDPR-aware anonymization options.
Charitable adds Donations Feed for social proof
Charitable released a Donations Feed block/shortcode to display live donation activity on any page. Options include list or card views, live refresh polling, granular campaign filtering, and donor insights (locations/comments). Pairing with DonorTrust can add verified popup notifications. The feed helps nonprofits increase trust and conversion by showing real-time giving momentum.
AI for commerce and courses
– Advanced Coupons + StoreAgent: An AI coupon generator creates WooCommerce promotions from plain-language prompts, auto-configuring discount logic, cart conditions, usage restrictions, and code naming. Requires both Advanced Coupons and StoreAgent.
– MemberPress AI Course Generator: MemberPress launched an AI tool to build course structures via chat, plus an AI Lesson Assistant to expand outlines into lessons and an AI Quiz Builder that generates assessments from lesson content. Available on Launch, Growth, and Scale plans using a credit system; generated content remains editable.
