Welcome to Issue 22 of WPBeginner Spotlight. March brought several notable WordPress updates: product milestones, new AI tools for commerce and courses, improved staging and backup workflows, and community-focused developer projects. Here’s a concise roundup of the highlights.
WPForms — 10 Years and Universal PayPal
WPForms marks its 10th anniversary and now powers over 6 million sites. The plugin has evolved into an AI-enabled form platform with frequent feature releases and integrations. To celebrate, WPForms offered a limited-time discount and introduced a Universal PayPal integration available to all users (including WPForms Lite), enabling payments, donations, and orders without extra eCommerce plugins.
Duplicator Activity Log — Track Everything
Duplicator released Activity Log, which records an extensive audit trail across more than 60 event types: logins, settings and content edits, plugin/theme actions, featured image or custom field changes, and more. Events are tagged by severity (Critical/High/Medium/Low), searchable and filterable by date, user, type, or IP. It supports email alerts for high-severity events, WP-CLI commands, and CSV/JSON exports for automation across site fleets.
WP Packages — Community-Funded Composer Repo
WP Packages (by Ben Word and Roots) launched as an open-source, community-funded Composer repository for free WordPress.org plugins and themes. A transparent build alternative to WPackagist, it targets developers who manage WordPress dependencies with Composer and includes a migration script to ease the switch.
WPVibe by SeedProd — Conversational AI for Site Management
WPVibe connects a self-hosted WordPress site to AI interfaces (Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor) to manage sites via natural language. Capabilities include content creation/edits, site intelligence (themes/plugins/health), plugin task execution through an Abilities API, and multi-step automations in Code Mode. WPVibe uses an MCP server bridge, encrypts credentials with AES-256, defaults new content to Draft, retains deleted items in trash for 30 days, and sets up quickly with a server URL and magic link.
WPCode — 3M Installs, Visual CSS Picker, Event Tracking
WPCode reached 3 million active installs. The update adds a Visual CSS Picker for point-and-click styling without manual element inspection, and custom event tracking inside its Conversion Pixels addon to capture video views, link clicks, scroll depth, and send those events to ad platforms—no code required.
MonsterInsights — Smarter Reports and Exporting
MonsterInsights redesigned its reporting dashboard with multi-metric overlays, an advanced filter slide-out, and improved campaign tables. All reports can now be exported as CSV or Excel, and an Export Queue centralizes and manages report downloads—handy for agencies and marketers who analyze data in spreadsheets or feed it into automation tools.
my.WordPress.net — Persistent WordPress in the Browser
WordPress introduced my.WordPress.net, a browser-native persistent WordPress environment built on Playground tech. It removes hosting and domain friction by running private, local-only WordPress instances (initially ~100 MB per device). Features include private-by-default sites, local storage, a one-click app catalog (Private CRM, RSS reader), and an AI assistant for safe edits. Because storage is device-tied, users should back up work to move between machines.
Duplicator — One-Click Staging and Remote Cloud Restores
Duplicator added one-click staging to create isolated site copies for testing. Staging sites are configured with search engine blocking, disabled outgoing email, visual admin cues, unique DB prefixes, and obfuscated URLs. The Remote Cloud Restores feature lets you restore full sites from Duplicator Cloud even when your host or dashboard is unavailable: set a recovery connector (FTP/SFTP) and launch restorations from any device. The Duplicator Cloud dashboard centralizes backup monitoring and restores across site portfolios.
Thrive Suite — Easier Quiz Exports and Form Duplication
Thrive Suite updated Quiz Builder, Leads, and Architect. Quiz Builder can export full quiz results to CSV in one click, supports detailed category breakdowns via shortcodes, and respects GDPR-safe anonymization. Thrive Leads adds one-click duplication of Lead Groups and forms, preserving settings and triggers. Architect’s sidebar can expand to show labels and auto-collapses to maximize editing space—useful for A/B testing and campaign workflows.
Charitable — Donations Feed for Social Proof
Charitable’s Donations Feed block/shortcode provides nonprofits with a live, customizable donations feed (names, amounts, comments, locations) to increase trust and momentum. Options include list or card views, live refresh polling, granular filters (campaign, minimum amount, date range), and donor insights. It pairs well with real-time notification tools to boost urgency during campaigns.
Advanced Coupons + StoreAgent — AI Coupon Generator
Advanced Coupons integrated with StoreAgent to offer an AI coupon generator. Describe a promotion in plain language and the AI sets discount rules, cart conditions, usage restrictions, and naming (or generates codes). This simplifies creating complex WooCommerce coupons. Both plugins are required to use the feature.
MemberPress — AI Course Generator and Lesson Tools
MemberPress launched an AI Course Generator that builds course sections, lessons, and objectives from chat prompts. The interface shows chat on one side and a live course structure preview on the other. Supporting features include an AI Lesson Assistant (expands outlines into polished lessons, adds examples) and an AI Quiz Builder (creates assessment questions from lesson content). Everything is editable; the feature is available on Launch, Growth, and Scale plans and uses a simple credit system.
