Welcome to Issue 22 of WPBeginner Spotlight! March brought many notable WordPress updates and product launches. This edition highlights major milestones, new AI tools, staging and backup improvements, and community-focused developer tools.
WPForms Turns 10 and Adds Universal PayPal
WPForms celebrates its 10th anniversary. Launched in 2016 to simplify contact forms, it now powers over 6 million sites and has evolved into an AI-enabled form platform with many integrations. To mark the milestone, WPForms is offering a limited-time 60% discount and released a Universal PayPal integration available to all users, including WPForms Lite, enabling payments, donations, and orders without extra eCommerce add-ons.
Duplicator Launches Activity Log
Duplicator released Activity Log, a plugin that records a full audit trail of site actions—over 60 event types across user sessions, content edits, plugin/theme changes, and more. Events include severity tags (Critical, High, Medium, Low), searchable timelines, filters by date/user/IP, and email alerts for high-severity events. The plugin tracks items other tools might miss (featured image changes, custom field updates, permalink or admin email changes). Advanced users get WP-CLI support and CSV/JSON exports for automated log management.
WP Packages: Community-Funded Composer Repository
WP Packages launched as an independent, open-source Composer repository providing WordPress.org plugins and themes as Composer dependencies. Built by Ben Word and the Roots team, it replaces WPackagist with a transparent build process and is community funded via GitHub Sponsors. Migration scripts ease transitions for developer projects.
WPVibe by SeedProd: Manage WordPress via Claude, ChatGPT, or Cursor
WPVibe enables remote conversational AI control of self-hosted WordPress sites by connecting to Claude, ChatGPT, or Cursor. It provides content creation, site health checks, plugin tasks through an “Abilities API,” and multi-step automation via “Code Mode.” WPVibe uses an MCP server bridge, AES-256 credential encryption, draft-by-default content creation, and 30-day trash protection. Setup is fast with a server URL and magic link.
WPCode Reaches 3 Million Installs, Adds Visual CSS Picker and Event Tracking
WPCode hit 3 million active installs. It added a Visual CSS Picker for point-and-click styling of page elements without inspecting code—helpful for beginners and power users. WPCode also launched custom event tracking for its Conversion Pixels addon to capture actions like video views, link clicks, and scroll depth, sending data to ad platforms without coding.
MonsterInsights: Smarter Visuals and Flexible Exports
MonsterInsights redesigned its reporting dashboard to help site owners visualize data without switching tabs. New Overview features include multi-metric overlays, advanced filtering with a slide-out panel, and enhanced campaign tables. Reports can now be exported as CSV or Excel files, and an Export Queue centralizes recent exports for agencies and marketers.
my.WordPress.net: Persistent Private WordPress in the Browser
WordPress introduced my.WordPress.net, a persistent WordPress environment that runs entirely in the browser and stores data locally. Built on WordPress Playground tech, it provides private-by-default sites for exploration, testing, and personal projects without hosting or domains. Features include local data storage, one-click “apps” (such as a private CRM and RSS reader), and an AI assistant for safe environment modifications. Initial local storage is about 100 MB per device; users should back up data to move between devices.
Duplicator Adds One-Click Staging and Remote Cloud Restores
Duplicator’s backup and migration plugin now includes a one-click staging system to create isolated copies of sites for safe testing. Staging safeguards include search engine blocking, outgoing email suppression, distinct visual cues in the admin bar, and isolated databases/URLs. The update also adds Remote Cloud Restores: restore a site directly from Duplicator Cloud even if the server or dashboard is down by configuring FTP/SFTP recovery connectors. Duplicator Cloud’s dashboard allows centralized backup monitoring and restorations across multiple sites—useful for agencies.
Thrive Suite: Easier Quiz Data and Lead Form Duplication
Thrive Suite 10.8.8 updates Thrive Quiz Builder, Thrive Leads, and Thrive Architect. Key changes:
– One-click CSV export of quiz results (names, emails, category scores, answers), with GDPR-safe anonymization options.
– Detailed quiz result shortcodes showing category breakdowns.
– One-click duplication of Lead Groups/forms (design, rules, triggers, integrations).
– Expandable Architect sidebar with text labels and smarter auto-collapsing for a cleaner workspace.
Charitable Adds Donations Feed to Build Donor Trust
Charitable v1.8.13 introduced a Donations Feed block and shortcode to display live donation activity (names, amounts, comments) to increase social proof. The feed supports list or card views, live polling for real-time refresh, filtering by campaign/minimum amount/date, and donor insights (locations/comments). It pairs well with DonorTrust popups for verified donation notifications.
Advanced Coupons Integrates AI Coupon Generator
Advanced Coupons integrated StoreAgent to offer an AI coupon generator for WooCommerce. Describe the promotion in plain language and the AI configures discount type/amount, cart conditions (minimum spend), usage restrictions, and can auto-generate unique codes. Requires both Advanced Coupons and StoreAgent plugins.
MemberPress Launches AI Course Generator
MemberPress released an AI Course Generator that creates a full course structure from a chat-based prompt describing topic, audience, and goals. The two-pane UI shows chat on the left and a live course preview on the right. Supporting features include an AI Lesson Assistant to expand outlines into lessons and an AI Quiz Builder that generates assessment questions from lesson content. Every element is editable. The feature is available on Launch, Growth, and Scale plans via a credit system.
