1. These terms
These Terms and Conditions govern your use of wordpress358.com and anything made available through it (the “Site”), including tutorials, code snippets and configuration guidance. By accessing or using the Site you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site. They incorporate our Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy, Disclaimer and Editorial Policy.
2. Changes
We may amend these terms by posting a revised version with a new date. Changes take effect when posted; where a change is material we will give reasonable prominent notice. Continuing to use the Site after a change means you accept it.
3. Who may use the Site
You must be at least 16 and legally capable of entering a binding agreement. You must not use the Site where doing so would breach the law that applies to you.
4. Code, tutorials and configuration — used at your own risk
This is the most important clause on this page. Our tutorials ask you to change software running on servers we do not control, holding data we cannot see, for sites whose configuration we do not know.
Everything published here is general information, not advice about your site, your host or your business, and it creates no professional or support relationship. Code snippets, plugin and theme recommendations, database queries, server configuration and migration steps are provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind, and are used entirely at your own risk.
Before applying anything from this Site to a live installation you should: take a full, restorable backup of files and database and verify that you can restore it; test on a staging copy first; check compatibility with your WordPress, PHP and plugin versions; and satisfy yourself that the change is appropriate for your setup. We are not responsible for data loss, downtime, broken sites, lost revenue, failed migrations, security incidents or hosting charges arising from steps taken from this Site.
5. Licence to use our content
We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access and read the Site. That licence does not permit you to:
- reproduce, republish or redistribute substantial parts of the Site;
- use the Site or any part of it commercially without our written permission;
- scrape, harvest or systematically extract content, by hand or by automated means;
- use the Site or its content to train, fine-tune or evaluate a machine learning model without our written permission;
- frame or mirror the Site, present it as your own, or remove any attribution from it.
Short code snippets published here may be used in your own projects without attribution. Prose, tutorials and images may not be republished. Short quotations are welcome with clear attribution and a link to the original article.
6. Acceptable use
You must not attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Site or any connected system, interfere with its operation, impose an unreasonable load on it, introduce malicious code, circumvent any access control or rate limit, or use the Site to send unlawful, defamatory, infringing, harassing or deceptive material.
7. Intellectual property
All content on the Site, including text, layout, code and the arrangement of it, is owned by us or licensed to us and is protected by copyright and other rights. WordPress is a registered trade mark of the WordPress Foundation; this Site is independent and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by the WordPress Foundation, Automattic, or any plugin, theme or hosting vendor discussed here. Third-party names and logos appear for identification only. Third-party software retains the licence its author granted, which is unaffected by these terms.
8. Material you send us
If you send us a pitch, a tutorial, a snippet, a correction or any other material — including through Write for Us — you confirm it is yours to send and does not infringe anyone's rights, and you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to publish and edit it in connection with the Site. We may decline, edit or remove anything unlawful, misleading, abusive or off topic.
9. Accuracy
We take reasonable care to be accurate at the time of publication and we correct errors when they are pointed out. WordPress moves quickly and plugin pricing moves faster. An article reflects the position at its date, we do not undertake to update every page, and its presence here is not a representation that a method, version or price remains current.
10. Advertising and affiliate links
The Site carries advertising, and some articles contain affiliate links to hosts, plugins and themes from which we may be paid a commission. This does not affect the price you pay and does not influence our editorial judgement; sponsored material is labelled.
11. Third-party links and software
We link to hosts, vendors and repositories for your convenience. We do not control them, do not endorse them by linking, and are not responsible for their content, prices, availability, support, or the security or behaviour of software you obtain from them. Anything you install is a matter between you and its author.
12. Availability
The Site is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, timely, error-free or secure, and we may change, suspend or withdraw all or part of it at any time without notice.
13. Disclaimer of warranties
To the fullest extent permitted by law we exclude all representations, warranties, conditions and terms, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, completeness or non-infringement.
14. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, punitive or exemplary loss, nor for any loss of profit, revenue, business, opportunity, goodwill, anticipated saving or data, nor for any downtime, corrupted database, failed update or security incident, arising out of or in connection with your use of the Site or anything implemented in reliance on it — whether in contract, tort (including negligence), breach of statutory duty or otherwise. Where liability cannot lawfully be excluded, our total aggregate liability is limited to one hundred United States dollars (USD 100).
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. If you are a consumer, these terms do not affect your statutory rights.
15. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify us against any claim, loss, liability, cost or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your breach of these terms, your misuse of the Site, or your infringement of a third party's rights.
16. Suspension
We may restrict or withdraw your access at any time, without notice, if we reasonably consider that you have breached these terms.
17. General
If any provision is held unenforceable the remainder continues in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it. You may not assign your rights under these terms; we may assign ours to a successor to the publication. These terms are the entire agreement between us regarding the Site.
18. Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms and any dispute arising out of them, including non-contractual disputes, are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction — except that if you are a consumer resident elsewhere you keep the benefit of any mandatory protections and the right to bring proceedings in the courts of your country of residence.
19. Contact
Questions about these terms go to the address on our contact page.
