Welcome to the WPBeginner Spotlight for February 2026 — our monthly roundup of the biggest WordPress news, product releases, and ecosystem changes shaping the web.
WordPress 7.0 Beta 1 — test the next admin
WordPress 7.0 Beta 1 is available for testing ahead of an expected April 9, 2026 release. This update delivers the most significant admin refresh in years: refined typography, a modern color system, and smoother view transitions that cut hard reloads. It also introduces the Web Client AI API so sites can host generative models in the backend for content generation, summaries, and admin automation from the block editor. Real-time collaboration is in development using a new sync engine to allow multiple editors to work on the same content concurrently. Testers are encouraged to preview features and send feedback before general availability.
WPForms adds interactive Map field
WPForms expanded its Geolocation addon with a new Map field letting visitors search, pin, and select exact locations in forms. Highlights include embedded maps with multiple pins, 2,000+ marker icons plus color picker and custom uploads, branded info boxes, visual selection that auto-fills entries, and clean exportable data (name, address, coordinates) for Google Sheets or notifications. Ideal for multi-branch retail, services, and event listings.
AIOSEO launches SEO Checklist and AI Suite
All in One SEO (AIOSEO) v4.9.4 adds an SEO Checklist to guide final optimization steps after setup and a centralized AI Suite hub. The checklist covers on-page, social, and local SEO essentials, while the AI Suite houses tools such as AI Brand Tracker, Keyword Tracking, and AI Content settings. AIOSEO also added full LLMs.txt support and can generate complete articles in Markdown to aid indexing and citation by large language models and AI search tools.
WPConsent scans inside Google Tag Manager
WPConsent’s site scanner can now inspect Google Tag Manager containers to identify scripts loaded via GTM. This removes blind spots when detecting cookies and trackers, helping site owners improve GDPR/CCPA compliance without deep technical knowledge.
MonsterInsights integrates Google Ads and expands eCommerce reports
MonsterInsights added Google Ads campaign creation to the WordPress dashboard. Users can define goals, build ads (copy, visuals, budgets), and launch campaigns from the dashboard — the feature is available in MonsterInsights Lite. The release also adds five eCommerce reports for WooCommerce and Easy Digital Downloads: orders by location, spend by day and hour, refunds tracking, and geographic refund insights, turning analytics into actionable storefront decisions.
Smash Balloon supports WooCommerce reviews
Smash Balloon now pulls WooCommerce product reviews as a feed source. The plugin auto-detects WooCommerce and enables customizable review feeds that display product feedback by product, category, or tag, automatically importing new reviews to use as marketing content on product and promotional pages.
MemberPress AppKit: build no-code branded mobile apps
MemberPress launched AppKit, a no-code solution to build branded iOS and Android apps from WordPress. AppKit offers a visual builder, content sync with WordPress, push notifications for lessons and community updates, and native app experiences aimed at boosting engagement for membership creators.
Easy Digital Downloads adds Abandoned Cart Recovery
Easy Digital Downloads introduced native Abandoned Cart Recovery for digital product stores. Features include automated email sequences, visual customer journey flows to spot drop-off points, recovery analytics (recovered revenue and rates), configurable inactivity timeouts (15 minutes to 24 hours), integrated discount codes, and smart purchase detection to stop follow-ups after conversion.
